What's the big deal with Facebook? Why do you use it? Please Over 40 answer!?

Facebook doesn't require any maintenance. My aunt's over forty and she just has one to keep in touch with family and look at pictures. She doesn't have a profile picture or any other pictures on hers. I'm seventeen and I rarely go on mine. It's private, so only my friends see it and I've never even made a status update.
